Create an Activity

Work activities can be created from a point or assets selected on the map.

  1. Click Create Activity in the map toolbar.
  2. Click Click on the map to capture the desired creation point.

  1. Set a point on the map.

Information about the point appears in the Point Data section of the panel, such as the X, Y coordinates.

  1. Click Next.
  2. Select the type of activity to create.
  1. Click Create. If multiple activities are created, they are created in batches of 10 and a progress indicator displays. This helps the system to avoid timing out when multiple activities are created.

The new work activity appears in the Create Activity panel.

  1. Click Open selected activities to open the work activity in the work management window.
  2. Click Reset to return to the Create Activity panel.

PREREQUISITES:

  • To populate the Create Activity panel, assets must be selected on the map using the Legend and Selection tools or can be loaded from a selection from the Analytics Dashboard or Calculation Search. See Legend and Selection for more information.
  1. Click Create Activity in the map toolbar.
  2. Select one or multiple assets from the Assets section. Use the Select All check box to select all of the assets listed in the Assets section.

TIP: Click Zoom to zoom to the individual asset or group of assets selected on the map.

  1. Click Next.

IMPORTANT: All assets are automatically selected if no assets are selected and Next is clicked.

NOTE: If you have also selected a point on the map, information about the point and Clear selected point replace Click on the map to capture the desired creation point on the panel.

  1. Select the Activity Type to create.
  2. Select information for the new activity as needed. The Asset Group and Asset Type could already be populated based on the asset selection when performing a calculation search or another function in Operational Insights, but can be changed if desired.
  3. Select the One Activity for All check box to combine the assets into one work order or inspection. Leave the One Activity for All check box clear, to create a work order or inspection for each asset.
  1. Click Create. If multiple activities are created, they are created in batches of 10 and a progress indicator displays. This helps the system to avoid timing out when multiple activities are created.

The new work activity appears in the Create Activity panel.

  1. Click Open selected activities to open the work activity in the work management window.
  2. Click Reset to return to the Create Activity panel.
