Unity AI
Unity AI is designed to simplify data retrieval and enhance efficiency in Trimble Unity. It translates natural language queries into structured system commands, eliminating the need for manual, complex searches. The solution's primary function is to provide direct and relevant information based on user-submitted requests, all while operating exclusively on data you already have permission to access. This system's core function is to translate natural language questions (for example, "show me all open work orders in City Center") into structured queries, eliminating the need for complex manual searches. As a generative AI, the system may occasionally produce inaccuracies. Users are advised to verify critical information derived from search results.
NOTE: Unity AI is available by request. Contact your Customer Success Manager for more information.
Known Limitations
The current iteration is the foundational version of the Unity AI. It does not yet search across GIS or Case Task data. Also, the answers provided by Unity AI may not retain context over long, multi-turn conversations. As a generative AI, Unity AI can occasionally make mistakes or hallucinate information. All users should take the proper steps in verifying critical information before taking action.
Expectations for Accuracy and Robustness
The Unity AI system is designed for high reliability, targeting 99.95% uptime. The AI's ability to correctly understand a user's request has been benchmarked to meet a 60% accuracy threshold on initial validation sets for generating the correct underlying system query.
Input Data Specifications
Unity AI operates exclusively on data from the Trimble Unity Maintain and Trimble Unity Permit platforms and can only access data the user has permission to see via their existing roles.
Human Oversight Measures
The primary means for providing feedback is the User Feedback Logging feature. Currently, that is the thumbs up and down buttons a user sees after entering a query into Unity AI. Clicking either the thumbs up or down buttons provides important feedback on the relevance and accuracy of search results. Having this input is crucial for the continuous improvement of the AI model.

Interpreting System Outputs
When a user asks Unity AI a question, the AI's primary job is to generate a query. An AI Chatbot notice is displayed on the Unity AI page which discloses that the user is interacting with a generative AI and not a human. The results shown after entering a query are the direct output from the Trimble Unity database based on that query. Results are filtered based on the user's permissions. When using Unity AI, a user will never see data they are not authorized to access.
Example of Use
An example prompt could be "Show me all completed Meter Repair work orders from last week." The AI translates that into a precise query and returns a contextual list—showing fields like work order description, finish date, and who it's assigned to—so you can find the information you need without clicking into each individual record.
