Configure an Activity Update

Activity updates can be created for cases, inspections, service requests, service request labor, work orders, work order tasks, and work order labor. This can be used to populate fields on a work activity from the GIS, for example the Submit To or Dispatch To, when a specific event occurs, for example when a work activity is created, closed, etc. They can also be used to populate fields with an exact value that you set. There are two parts to creating an activity update. First you must create an Action Template, which determines what field is populated from the GIS, and then you must create an Action Event, which determines when the field is populated.

NOTE: Service request labor and work order labor are primarily used with webhooks.

PREREQUISITES:

  • GIS services must be configured under GIS > Services. See Configure GIS Services for more information.
  • You must be licensed for activity updates for Activity Update to appear in the Action drop-down list. To see if you are licensed for these, look at the license extensions on the Licensing page in the Summary panel.

IMPORTANT: Work activities are created based on values in this order: template, GIS, parent work activity, user-or-API-entered values, and activity update (Action Manager). If fields are not populating after you've created an activity update, check to see if anything may be interfering, such as the Submit To field being populated on a service request template.

See Add or Edit an Action Template and Add or Edit an Action Event to configure an activity update.
