Configure GIS Services

Services defines the GIS links that Trimble Unity uses. An unlimited number of map services can be configured, and services can be assigned to domains, groups, or users to provide specific maps for different users. Dynamic, tiled, image, print task, route task, geocode, geometry, subtype group, and vector tile service types are supported, as well as web map, web scene, mobile map packages, tile package, utility network layer, and feature layer service types.

NOTE: Printing and routing services are added as a service type instead of being added in the XML.

There are three tabs for defining services on the Services page: Service Resources, Service Definitions, and Service Layers.

Service Resources are defined first and independently of the service definitions. This allows a service resource to be defined once and then linked to multiple service definitions.

For more information on Service Resources, see Add or Edit GIS Service Resources.

Service Definitions aggregates multiple service resources, like map services, geocode services, geometry services, print tasks, and route tasks, together. Domains, groups, or users are then assigned to service definitions.

For more information on Service Definitions, see Add or Edit Service Definitions.

Service Layers is used to configure which services and layers within them are to be used for the asset layers that are defined under Asset Groups.

For more information on Service Layers, see Configure Service Layers.
