Trimble Unity Field users connecting to Trimble Unity Maintain and Trimble Unity Permit environments use Trimble Identity (Trimble ID) for authentication, providing enhanced security and single-sign on capabilities.

Trimble ID allows you to seamlessly connect with various Trimble products like Trimble Connect, Trimble Mobile Manager, as well as partner products like Esri ArcGIS, eliminating the need to remember multiple logins.

See Getting Started with Trimble ID in the Trimble Account Services documentation to learn more extensively about Trimble ID.

PREREQUISITES: Before logging in to the app, ensure that: Your administrator has enabled Trimble ID for your organization and sent you a Trimble ID invitation. If you are a new user, you have followed the invitation link in your email to create a Trimble ID account. See Create a Trimble ID in the Trimble Account Services documentation for more information. You know your organization name and Trimble ID credentials. Your organization has configured the TID/ArcGIS Integration and assigned Esri ArcGIS Identities to field users. Trimble Unity Field requires a GIS integration. Your device is connected to the internet.

1. Launch the Trimble Unity Field mobile app.

A message appears asking you to allow the Trimble Unity Field app to access your device's location services. Depending on your device, you may be prompted to select your preferred location permissions.

IMPORTANT: To use location-based features, such as capturing a location or collecting GIS feature data, you must enable location permissions for the app. Without these permissions, these features will be unavailable.

2. Enter your Organization.

NOTE: The Organization field is case sensitive.

3. Tap Next.

If Trimble ID is configured for your organization, you are redirected to the Trimble ID Sign In page. A message may appear informing you that the Trimble Unity Field app wants to use Trimble ID to sign in.

4. On the Trimble ID Sign In page, enter the Email or username associated with your Trimble ID.
5. Tap Next.
6. Enter the Password associated with your Trimble ID.

If this is your first time logging in with Trimble ID, you will be prompted to authorize access to your assigned ArcGIS site.

7. Log in using your ArcGIS credentials to complete the authorization and link your GIS integration. See Log In with GIS Integrations for the First Time in the Admin Guide for Trimble Unity Maintain and Trimble Unity Permit for more information.

NOTE: For subsequent logins, the system retrieves your stored ArcGIS token and does not prompt for ArcGIS login again. If your ArcGIS token expires, you will be prompted to re-authorize.

For Android and iOS users, your device's credential manager may prompt you to save your login information for future use. If accepted, your credentials will automatically fill on subsequent logins, streamlining the login process and improving efficiency for users who switch between multiple organizations.

On iOS devices, Trimble Unity Field specifically supports Apple Passkeys and Apple Password Manager. This allows you to use biometrics, such as FaceID or TouchID, to sign in instantly. By leveraging Passkeys, you can bypass the frustration of typing complex passwords or managing multi-factor authentication (MFA) codes while working in the field or wearing gloves. This provides bank-level security for sensitive data while ensuring field crews can bypass common login hurdles and begin work immediately.

At the initial log in, the app automatically syncs. The progress panel shows the total number of updates and changes that are being synced.

IMPORTANT: If a web map fails to load after the initial sync, a message will appear explaining that the map cannot be displayed because you do not have the necessary permissions. Tap Dismiss to dismiss the message and display a default system web map. Your organization's specific GIS layers and assets will not be visible. Contact your GIS administrator to request access to the required web map.

If you do not have Trimble ID configured for your organization, you can sign in using Single Sign-on with your Esri ArcGIS credentials.

PREREQUISITES: Before logging in to the app, ensure that: Single Sign-on is configured for your account. If Single Sign-on is not configured, you will not be able to log in to the app. See the Single Sign-on Guide for Trimble Unity Maintain and Trimble Unity Permit for more information. You must configure the redirect URI in your ArcGIS Online (AGOL) or ArcGIS Enterprise Portal environment in order to use SSO. See Configure the Redirect URI for more information. Trimble Unity Field requires a GIS integration (if TID is not enabled for your customer site, the app continues to use Esri Identity). Your device is connected to the internet. You know your organization name and user credentials. If you do not know your organization or need information on how to setup a new account, please contact your administrator.
