Add a Notification Type

This section will discuss how to add a new notification field.

PREREQUISITES:

  • The Notification Type security function and its associated sub-functions must be selected for the security role you belong to. See Security Roles for more information. Alternately, on the Employee Relates page select Admin in the Module drop-down list and use the Fields drop-down list to select the notification permissions you want to add. See Admin Pages for more information.
  • You must have notification fields set up for the information you want to pull from the database. See Notification Fields for more information.
  1. From the home page, click Permitting or Configure and click Notification Types.
  2. On the Notification Types panel, click Add record.

  1. On the Add Notification Type panel, enter a name in the Code field and a brief description in the Notification Description field.
  2. Select Active Report, Email, In-App, or SMS using the Category drop-down list.

For in-app notifications to work, the Turn on in-app notifications switch must be activated on the Admin Preferences page. See Configure Permitting Preferences for more information.

Adding a new In-App notification type populates the Notification Types (In-App) drop-down list on the Add Notification Setup panel on the Notification Setup page. See Add a Notification Setup for more information.

See Notifications in the Respond Guide for Trimble Unity Maintain and Trimble Unity Permit for more information on what the in-app notifications look like in Respond.

If the Email category is selected, you must enter a subject line using the Email Subject Line field.

  1. Use the Insert Email Subject Value drop-down list to insert values into the subject line that dynamically populate with case-relevant data when the message is sent.
  2. Enter the desired text of the message in the field below the Insert Value drop-down list.
  3. Use the Insert Value drop-down list to insert any desired placeholders within the message.

The Insert Value placeholders are dynamically populated with case-relevant data when a message is sent.

  1. Click Add.
