Configure Map Preferences

The Map panel contains preferences related to the map.

  1. From the home page, click Admin and click Preferences.
  2. Click the Maintain tab.
  3. Expand the General section.
  4. The WKID - Spatial Reference is a read-only field that cannot be changed. The WKID is automatically set to 3857 (Web Mercator).
  5. Enter the Default Z value when Z is null. The default is 0.
  6. Select the Z Calculation Method used to calculate Z values when multiple assets are added to a work activity.
  7. In the XY Precision field, enter a number, between 2 and 8, to determine how many numbers are stored after the decimal for X and Y coordinates. For example, if you enter 8 here, all 8 digits after the decimal display, and stored in the database. If you enter 2 here, only 2 digits after the decimal display and only 2 digits are stored in the database; the other 6 digits are truncated and lost from the X and Y coordinates. The default is 3.
  8. To set the Map Feature Name and Map Field Name fields, click Select to the right of the fields. Select the Group from the drop-down list. The Type field sets the name of the polygon feature class to use to spatially derive map names or grid locations. The Field sets the field name for the map pages.
  9. To set the Tile No. Feature Name and Tile No. Field Name fields, click Select to the right of the fields. Select the Group from the drop-down list. The Type field sets the name of the layer where the tile information is stored. The Field sets the name of the corresponding field inside the Tile No. Layer.
  10. To set the Shop Feature Name and Shop Field Name fields, click Select to the right of the fields. Select the Group from the drop-down list. The Type field sets the name of the layer where the Shop information is stored. The Field sets the name of the Shop field from the Shop layer.
  11. To set the District Feature Name and District Field Name fields, click Select to the right of the fields. Select the Group from the drop-down list. The Type field sets the name of the layer containing the District information. The Field sets the name of the District field from the District layer.
  12. In the Default District field, select the default district to be used if one is not already determined using the above values.
  13. In the Maximum Number of Records Returned through eURL field, enter the number of work activity records are returned in eURL-related searches.
  14. Turn on Generate Map Images to enable map image generation when work activities are changed, or X and Y values are updated. Generated images can be removed by domain administrators, see Remove Map Images for more information.
  15. Enter a number in the Print Image Map Scale for the scale ratio used when creating a map image to be printed with a service request, work order, or inspection. The scale ratio is 1:5,250, where one foot is equal to one mile.
  16. In the Map Image Buffer Distance field, enter the number of units from a center point on each axis (X and Y). This determines how much of the map is included in the image when the map is printed. The default for both is 2500.
  17. NOTE: The X and Y buffer values define the size of the image bounding box by subtracting and adding the buffer distances, in map units, to the X and Y coordinates on the service request, work order, or inspection.
  18. Select the Map Image Output Pixel Size, either Small (240 X 320 pixels), Medium (480 X 640 pixels), or Large (720 X 960 pixels). The default is Medium.

NOTE: Admin automatically saves the changes you make. A message appears at the bottom of the page when you make changes.
