GIS Requirements

To access GIS functionality in Trimble Unity Field, you must complete the following configuration steps in both your ArcGIS portal and in Trimble Unity Admin for Maintain and Permit.

IMPORTANT: If the GIS configuration requirements are not completed, you will not be able to access GIS functionality in the app.

Key Requirements at a Glance

  • ArcGIS User Type: Editing GIS asset data requires a Mobile Worker user type with the privilege to edit features.
  • Web Map Configuration: A web map must be created, configured, and enabled for editing. Additionally, a user must have access to web maps in order to switch between web maps in the app.
  • GNSS Metadata Setup: The web map must be configured with the necessary layers and settings for GNSS metadata collection.
  • Web Map Search: Search functionality must be configured within the web map to allow users to search for assets and addresses.
  • Configure Offline Map Areas: Offline map areas must be configured for offline access, synchronization, and download.
  • Trimble Unity Admin Web Map Configuration: A web map must be configured in Trimble Unity Admin and assigned to a relevant service definition with the Mobile check box selected.
  • Trimble Unity Admin Group GIS Rights: Users must be a member of a Group in Admin that has Geometry or Attribute GIS Rights for editing assets.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Configuration settings must be completed in ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise before completing the configuration settings in Trimble Unity Admin.

IMPORTANT: Trimble Unity Field requires a web map.
